Paperless Document Management Offers Environmentally Friendly Way to Cut Costs

Washington and Lee University, based in Virginia, is one of the ten oldest colleges in the country. Over the past few decades, the school had built up a stack of papers seemingly impossible to organize.

When Washington and Lee administrators decided it was time to implement document management software, they wanted to find tools that would save space while remaining environmentally friendly. In a recent blog post for Business 2 Community, Techbreach staff writer Pearlie Davis advised companies to adopt paperless document management as an effective cost-cutting measure.

With the average business using thousands of pieces of paper per year, paperless systems eliminate these associated costs while simultaneously cutting down on waste. Davis also noted fewer errors and faster response time to customer communication as advantages of paperless document management.

Washington and Lee University has enjoyed many benefits since the school adopted PaperSave solutions.

“The price was right,” said Cassie Hunt, former director of advancement operations at Washington and Lee. “And it improves accuracy.”

Hunt said PaperSave required almost no learning curve for the school’s employees. In addition to reducing costs, the paperless system has significantly cut down on needed storage space while improving worker productivity.

Washington and Lee University hasn’t been the only winner from its adoption of PaperSave solutions. The environment has also benefited from the technology, Hunt said.
